About us

Meet Onwards

Onwards is our community group, specialised in supporting neurodiverse families. Our group is dedicated to bringing individuals with Autism, ADHD, and anxiety a safe space to feel part of the community. Every Friday evening from 7-9pm, a large group of dedicated volunteers donate their time and effort to make sure our families can enjoy a night of fun at the end of a busy week. A range of activities are held in this time including;

Animal man visits

One of Onwards’ best visitors is our animal man. From rabbits to chameleons these evenings are a must for animal lovers.

Themed bingo with prizes

Bingo is a club favourite, we try and play every chance we get. We have themed bingo for events such as Halloween and Christmas too! If you’re lucky enough to score a line or house you can choose a prize from the extensive selection!

Modelling clay creations

Onwards a wonderful place to explore your creativity: With many different modelling clay/foam based evenings, there are countless opportunities to have some fun!

Painting pottery & more

Many of our craft evenings consist of painting art pieces. Sometimes these are pottery pieces that get sent to a special kiln and are returned to you nicely polished the next week.

Quiz night with fish & chips.

Our quiz nights are full of activities and prizes, enough to keep you thinking throughout the night. This is paired perfectly with the Friday night staple – fish and chips.

Video and board games

Evenings centered around board games are always popular and full of laughs! Sometimes we even host Mario kart tournaments – the ultimate test of video gaming skill!

Simba

This is Simba, our assistance dog. He attends most evenings and is the heart of Onwards. Simba is a golden retriever, which makes him an exceptional assistance dog. He’s always up for strokes and cuddles, and will even sit with you if you need an extra bit of support.

What we offer

Crafts

Painting, clay modelling, pottery decorating and decopatch kits are some of the many crafts that onwards offers. With different crafts on the table almost every week, the extensive options never disappoint.

Visitors

Onwards has visitors come in from all over the area such as craft instructors, slime makers and the animal man.

These people make for wonderful nights full of interactive fun.

Games

Boxes of games sit out all year round for our members to play and enjoy. Other games such as table tennis, table football and tabletop hockey are out on the main floor for our members to enjoy.

Every so often game nights are held to bring video & board game lovers together!

Quiet room

At the back of our room is a quiet room where some of our members like to relax. This area is perfect for members who would rather keep away from all the chatter in the main hall.
